Online retail giant Amazon.com is preparing for the holidays by hiring 50,000 seasonal workers.

Amazon currently employs 20,000 people at 40 fulfillment centers, where the seasonal employees will be placed.

The company said the temporary positions could turn full-time for thousands of workers after the holidays.

Amazon is just one of several big seasonal hiring announcements recently. Macy's, Kohl's and Toys 'R' Us have all announced major holiday hiring plans.
