Three Austin restaurants were not up to par when the health inspector dropped by.
River City Donut at 1945 West William Cannon scored a 68 from an inspector with the Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department.
Critical violations included holding sausage kolaches at the wrong temperature in the display case, and there was no label to say how long they had been there. There was no soap at an employee hand sink. The inspector also observed River City Donut fail to properly wash and sanitize wares by simply rinsing off with water and placing for storage. There was also bleach stored next to food ingredients under the prep table.
On the follow-up inspection, River City Donut passed with an 81.
Fredas Seafood Grill at 10903 Pecan Park Boulevard had a failing score of 66. Critical violations included a cook rinsing a knife in a hand sink and not sanitizing, improper cooling of some food held in a cooler at 47 degrees and the accumulation of food particles or mold on the spout of the tea urn, soda guns, and inside the ice machine. On the follow-up inspection, Fredas Seafood passed with a perfect 100.
Milano Pizza at 11525 Manchaca received a 60 from the health department. The inspector could not find a cooler capable of holding foods at the required temperature, including pepperoni, ham, sausage and chicken wings. The oven and the dough roller were heavily soiled. There were also rodent droppings in the food prep area. On the required follow-up, Milano Pizza scored an 88.
