A popular SoCo eatery received a failing health inspection recently.
The Woodland at 1716 South Congress failed its Austin Travis County Health inspection with a score of 62. Problems noted by the inspector included fruit flies in the back prep area, an employee was observed handling a soiled rag and then handling food. There was improper cold holding of potentially hazardous food including, cheese, meatloaf, mashed potatoes and tortilla soup.
On the required follow-up inspection The Woodland passed with a 70.
Luby's at 13817 North 183 failed its health inspection with a score of 59. Health violations included improper cold holding of tuna salad, watermelon and cantaloupe. An employee was observed handling green onions without wearing gloves or using a utensil. The inspector also spotted an accumulation of food particles or mold on the can opener, choppers and inside the ice machine.
On the required follow-up inspection, Luby's on North 183 scored a 96.
Mi Pueblo Meat Market at 6575 Decker failed its health inspection with a score of 64. Problems included several insects in the kitchen, no discard date on cheese and deli meat and an accumulation of food particles on knives. There was also dried raw meat on the doors to the walk-in.
On the required follow-up inspection, Mi Pueblo Meat Market scored a 93.
Hunan Ranch at 14900 Avery Ranch scored a 58 on its recent health inspection. The inspector noticed that there were no towels in the employee bathroom. Dented cans were on the shelf and condensation was dripping from the walk-in freezer onto food.
On the follow-up inspection, Hunan Ranch scored an 83.
