Mold and sanitation problems spotted by health inspectors

Texas Land and Cattle Steak House at 14010 North 183 failed its recent health inspection with a score of 61. The inspector found meats in the walk-in cooler being held overnight at the wrong temperature, including salmon at 53 degrees and sirloin at 52 degrees. The cook was also spotted cleaning up spilled food from the floor and failing to wash his hands properly before putting on gloves. Plus there were food particles or mold on numerous surfaces, including the ice machine.

On the follow-up inspection, Texas Land and Cattle passed with a 71.

Alcantara Tacos at 1708 Montopolis failed its health inspection with a 57. Problems included sticky fly strips hung the food prep stations. Employees were observed failing to properly sanitize their hands. The employee hand sink was also not readily accessible.

On the re-inspection Alcantara Tacos passed with an 89.

China Cafe at 13729 North 183 failed its recent health inspection with a 61.

Numerous foods were held at the wrong temperatures -- both hot and cold. Soap, hand cleanser and single use towels were not provided at all kitchen sinks. There was also an accumulation of mold on the tea urn spout and inside the ice machine.

On the required follow-up inspection China Cafe on Highway 183 passed with an 84.
