SPOKANE, Washington -- This is the busiest shipping day of the year for FedEx.
A record 19 million packages are expected to ship on Dec. 10. That is more than twice the amount handled on a typical shipping day, and up 10 percent from the busiest day last year.
According to the company, the increase is the result of a jump in online holiday shopping on days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
The company expects to process more than 200 packages a second on Monday.
Last-minute gift-givers still have plenty of time to ensure their gifts arrive in time for Christmas. The deadline for FedEx Ground shipping is December 17.
The last day to send packages via the United States Postal Service via First-Class Mail is Dec. 20, and Dec. 21 for Priority Mail. Customers shipping via UPS need to ship by Dec. 20 using 2nd Day Air Delivery.
