Powerball jackpot climbs again, reaches $550 million

Gas prices spiking higher!

The average for regular, now $3.60 a gallon, according to AAA -- up 5 cents from a week ago.  Refinery repairs and pipeline delays in the midwest are choking supplies -- and driving gas prices to record highs in Minnesota.  Supply could remain tight for weeks.

 

 

 

Meantime -- airports will be crowded this summer -- and so will planes.

The trade group Airlines for America" -- forecasting nearly 209 million people will fly on U.S. based airlines.  Close to the all time high in 2007.  The busiest travel days expected to be Thursdays and Fridays between the middle of June and the first week of August.

 

And -- the Angus burger may not be the only Mcdonald's menu item on the chopping block!

An email obtained by Bloomberg indicates Mcdonald's has also been looking at getting rid of the caesar salad, McSkillet burrito, southern style biscuit and steak bagel.  Having too many items on the menu may be preventing the fast-food chain from making meals, fast enough.

 

 

 

And -- if you're looking to make a little extra money -- the Powerball jackpot has jumped to $550 million dollars -- the third-largest in history. 

And lottery officials say this Saturday's jackpot could end up beating the all-time high of $587 million.  AP says ticket sales have been soaring since California joined 41 other states in the madness, in April.  11% of sales since then, have been in the Golden State.
