BRISTOW, Okla. (AP) — One worker was killed and another was injured when an oilfield tank exploded south of Bristow.
Creek County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Les Vaughan says the explosion was reported about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Deputies and firefighters who arrived on the scene found a large oilfield tank and two trucks in flames.
Vaughan says the injured worker was flown by medical helicopter to an area hospital.
Vaughan says Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death of the worker who was killed.
Vaughan says it was not immediately known what caused the tank to explode and burn. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is to investigate.
Vaughan says the explosion occurred in a rural area and no evacuations were needed.
Names of the victims weren't immediately released.
