HODGE, La. (AP) — One person is dead and two people have been injured following an accident at the RockTenn paper mill in Hodge.
Police Chief Johnny Shively says the men — contract workers with two companies — were burned after falling into a vat of an unidentified liquid. Authorities say the men were doing routine inspections on some equipment when the 10 a.m. Tuesday accident happened.
Two workers were transported to the Jackson Parish Hospital for treatment. Hospital administrator Lloyd Monger says one was treated and released; a second person was airlifted to a Shreveport hospital.
Dewey Seymour, executive vice president of Deep South Industrial Services, told The News-Star (http://tnsne.ws/17ioB7f) a third worker died. Two worked for his company. The other worked for Pulp Mill Services.
The victim's names have not been released.
