LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — Mayor Randy Roach has praised the City Council's extension of a 10-year tax exemption for Aeroframe Services, which operates at Chennault International Airport.

But The American Press reports (http://bit.ly/cseYHv ) that with budget deficits expected over the next few years, the administration still will review the impact the sales-and-use exclusion will have on the city's budget.

City officials extended the benefit even though the Calcasieu Parish School Board is questioning the financial sensibility of continuing a similar package while trying to manage its own $13 million deficit.

Over the next five years, the company's tax liability will grow. Aeroframe will pay 20 percent of its taxes in 2013, 40 percent in 2014, 60 percent in 2015, 80 percent in 2016 and 100 percent in 2017.
