Longhorns and Cowboys... going in different directions

09:17 PM CDT on Sunday, October 12, 2008

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about how similar I thought of the overall makeup of the Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys.

Don't laugh. If you didn't read it... go back and check it out. A quality comparison.

And I still think that on paper.

But on the field... completely different.

Mr Over-achiver, meet Mr Under-achiever.

Let's start with the Horns and, I'm not one to brag, but for the person who left the rude voice mail about me picking Texas over Oklahoma... I told you so. Colt McCoy picked apart that OU zone... and Muschamp put the clamps on in the second half. And... I'll talk more about this later... but things look really, really good now for Texas to go to Kansas City and Miami. (That's for the Big-12 and National Championships, by the way!)

As for Dallas... U-G-L-Y, they don't get no alibi. I know, it's a corny cheer from middle school, but boy does it fit. Does Wade Phillips want to finish the season as coach before he leaves? Does Tony Romo really care about what happens (since he looks oblivious to everything on the sidelines) or is he just pondering about his girl, Jessica? And it Terrell Owens being a disruption to the psyche of this team?

The Horns seems headed toward greatness for the rest of the season... while the Cowboys are now in jeopardy of being on the playoff bubble. (Remember, they're in the "easy" part of their schedule).

Time for both teams to worry about the boys from Missouri. UT gets some upset Tigers and Dallas plays a Rams team that remembered how to win a game.

Should be another fun week in football!
