MARBLE FALLS, Texas -- A woman has been arrested on charges of animal cruelty after police say she was seen dragging a small dog behind her SUV.
A witness told police that Maricela Sanchez, 27, was dragging the Yorkshire Terrier behind her vehicle on Thursday, Aug. 16. Sanchez claims she was taking the dog "for a walk."
Marble Falls police say the dog is alive and in foster care, after being treated for its injuries.
Sanchez was arrested and booked into the Burnet County Jail, but is now out on a $5,000 bond. She is set to appear before a judge on Aug. 30. If convicted she faces up to two years in prison.
