WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas -- KVUE News has learned Williamson County Sheriff's Office spokesman John Foster has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

According to Williamson County Jail records, Foster was arrested Saturday June 29 around 11:29 p.m. by the Department of Public Safety after a 911 call about an erratic driver.

A spokesperson for DPS tells KVUE Foster was pulled over at mile marker 269 on I-35 northbound, just south of Jarrell.

According to his arrest affidavit, Foster's breath smelled of moderate alcohol. His speech was fair and mumbling. He cooperated fully with law enforcement and completed a field sobriety test, but he did not turn properly, and he stumbled.

Foster agreed to take a breathalyzer test. He blew a .09. The legal limit is .08.

Foster faces misdemeanor charges because he has no prior DWI convictions.

His bond was set at $1,000. He was released from jail Monday.
