The achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired are being celebrated Wednesday.

The ninth annual Austin White Cane Day kicked off at 8:30 a.m. Participants marched to City Hall, and then made their way to Republic Square Park where they will spend the afternoon with food, fun and live music.

Wednesday's event celebrates the abilities and achievements of people with visual disabilities who live independently.
