SAN ANTONIO -- Union Pacific and the San Antonio Police Department were called to a train derailment on the northeast side Saturday.

The accident happened near N.E. Loop 410, close to the Binz-Engleman Road overpass,  around 6:15 a.m.

"Two engines and one rail car did derail," Raquel Espinoza, with Union Pacific Southern Region, told KENS 5.

Ezpinoza said the cars derailed from a train that was departing from the Union Pacific Kirby Yard

Crews were working with TxDOT to formulate a plan on how to move the two locomotives and rail car; however, TxDOT inspection crews weren't expected to arrive on scene until 1 p.m.

"We want to take the safest route," Espinoza said. "If they want to close the highway, or close a lane or two, we want to make sure we all agree on how to do this safely."

No injuries were immediately reported.
