AUSTIN -- A University of Texas student is accused of launching a computer attack that disabled UT's online registration site last spring.
Garret Ross Phillips, 19, is charged with breach of computer security.
According to his arrest affidavit, investigators tracked the attack to his computer address. They seized his computer and found software used to overload UT's server with fake users.
The attack prevented students from registering for classes for more than four hours.
Phillips admitted to police than no one else had used his computer.
His bond is set at $20,000.
