Travis County Commissioners were presented with the county's new budget Tuesday. The total amount is $487 million, almost $32 million more than last year.
Part of the increase is due to rising health care and retirement costs.
Under the budget, the county's property tax rate rises almost 4.5 cents to 46.58 cents per $100 of valuation. That means the tax bill for an average home would go up about $48.
Travis County Commissioners will vote on the new budget in September.
