AUSTIN -- A massive training exercise was held in Austin Friday morning to prepare for the possibility of a terrorist attack or other emergency events.
Over the next 40 hours, Central Texas Public Safety agencies will take part in more than a dozen urban shield full-scale preparedness exercises.
Members of the Austin Fire Department took part in the first exercise Friday which was a rescue from a collapsed parking garage.
Similar emergency scenarios will be played out in Hays and Williamson counties this weekend. Responding to active shootings and search and rescue missions will be among the scenarios.
