AUSTIN -- Three people are in custody after stealing a car and leading deputies on a chase.
The incident began just after 6 a.m. Monday when three suspected juveniles allegedly stole a red pickup truck in the 7500 block of Highway 130 in East Austin. When deputies tried to pull them over, the driver took off and hit a deputy's car.
Travis County deputies then chased the suspects through the city, and the incident ended in a crash at U.S. 183 and Cameron Road. Deputies took the suspects into custody.
"The subject came to a stop after striking another vehicle and crashing over here against the retaining wall and taken into custody," Sgt. Stan Roper with the Travis County Sheriff's Office said.
Austin police were also called to assist during the chase. Deputies remained on the scene to reconstruct the crash since it involved a collision with one of their vehicles.
