AUSTIN -- Authorities arrested a fugitive wanted for the solicitation of a minor in 2003.

39-year-old Boris Augusto Alvarado, whose last known address in 2005 was in Austin, was arrested by the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force upon his arrival into the Miami International Airport.

Alvarado was detained at Tocumen International Airport in Panama as he was transiting from Ecuador to Brazil. He was denied entry and subsequently deported to the United States as a result of his wanted status.

Alvarado was the subject of a Cyber Crimes investigation in 2003 after he used an Internet chat room to solicit a person he thought was a 14-year-old girl for sex. In addition to a jail term, Alvarado was sentenced to 10 years probation.

In 2005, warrants for his arrest were issued in Bastrop and Travis County when Alvarado failed to maintain his sex registration as required by the terms of his probation.

After fleeing from Austin, investigation and interviews with the suspect's family suggested Alvarado fled to South America.

Alvarado will remain in the Pretrial Detention Center in Miami pending his extradition to Bastrop County.
