AUSTIN -- Austin police have identified a teenager killed on a highway in South Austin.
It happened in the 8400 block of S. MoPac Expressway near Davis Lane around 5:30 p.m. Monday Oct. 21.
Police say a teenage pedestrian was hit by a vehicle. She was pronounced dead at 5:41 p.m.
According to KVUE's news partner the Austin American-Statesman, Wednesday the pedestrian was identified by the Travis County medical examiner’s office as a 13-year-old female.
The Statesman reports the girl left home following an argument with her family. Her death is being ruled a suicide.
The highway was closed for several hours Monday as police investigated the incident.
