FORT HOOD, Texas -- Crews have demolished Fort Hood's Building 42003, which was the site of the deadly shooting rampage that left 13 people dead and more than 30 wounded in November 2009.
Fort Hood officials say they plan to plant trees and install a gazebo and remembrance plaque to honor those that died and were injured in the shooting.
The building was part of the Soldier Readiness Processing Center.
Former Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan was convicted for the shooting and sentenced to death in August 2013. He is now being held at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
