Funeral set for KLBJ reporter killed in accident

AUSTIN -- A 590 KLBJ-AM radio reporter has died from injuries sustained in a serious car accident.

According to the KLBJ-AM Facebook page, Barbara McCarley died Wednesday morning.

Around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, McCarley was in one of the radio station's vehicles when she was involved in an accident at FM 2222 and Mesa Drive.

Two other people were injured in the accident and were taken to local hospitals.

McCarley had worked for KLBJ-AM since 1998. The station's website says she covered City Hall, but also covered many breaking news stories during her career.

She is survived by her husband and two children.

McCarley's funeral will be held at Austin Christian Fellowship Church, 6401 River Place Boulevard, at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.

A visitation will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 411 Ranch Road 620 South in Lakeway.
