SAN MARCOS, Texas -- A San Marcos police officer charged with assaulting a college student has been fired.

Cell phone video shows what happened May 29th right after investigators say Corporal James Palermo threw 22-year-old Alexis Alpha to the ground.

Alpha says Palermo arrested her when she walked between his squad car and a car he'd just pulled over.

Police say Palermo broke two of Alpha's front teeth and gave her a concussion. All charges against her were dropped.

Palermo had been on leave, but the chief says he is now suspended indefinitely without pay.

Palermo is appealing that decision.
