AUSTIN -- Tuesday evening, Longhorn football fans sounded off about rumors swirling regarding the future of head football coach Mack Brown.

On KLBJ’s Jeff Ward Show Tuesday night, listeners had plenty to say about the Dallas Cowboys and especially Brown and rumors of his resignation.

Jeff Ward, a former UT kicker, told KVUE he has a hard time believing Brown would just call it quits.

“The president of the University has a fight on his hands for his own job," Ward said. "So, you've got the longtime [athletic director] that's already out, you've got a guy that's been on the job five weeks, you've got Brown represented by a guy who's got his name all over buildings and he's a billion dollar trial lawyer, so who's going to walk in and tell that guy, 'We're firing your client?'”

Some of those same questions were being asked across town at the Texas Chili Parlor, a popular hangout for UT football fans.

“You know, I've wanted him to go 100 times. I will hate to see him go if he goes, 'cause he's such a traditionalist, and he's been here so long. It'd be hard to picture it without him, and who's going to replace him?” said Longhorn fan Spencer Johnson.

“He's a good coach. He's a good recruiter. He's a good motivator, plus he's an all around good guy.  [It] kind of looks like he's getting railroaded and I hate to see that. Even being a Sooner, I hate to see that,” said Russell Rich, a University of Oklahoma Sooners fan.

All eyes will be on UT Thursday as President Bill Powers meets with the Board of Regents.
