ROUND ROCK, Texas -- A Round Rock police officer was injured Wednesday afternoon during a firearms training.
Round Rock Police Department released a statement saying Officer Sean Johnson accidentally shot himself in the foot while attending a “Glock Instructor Workshop” at the Williamson County firing range.
RRPD hosted the training while glock instructors presented the course to approximately 40 class participants.
Immediately following the incident, officers applied first aid treating Johnson at the scene and he was then transported to Seton Williamson in Round Rock. Johnson was treated for a gunshot wound to his right foot and he was discharged later that evening.
Police said the incident is being investigated.
Johnson has been employed with the Round Rock Police Department since 2006 and is currently assigned as a sergeant in the training division.
