A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until midnight for Gillespie, Llano, Burnet, Williamson and Milam Counties, with one to three inches of snow possible in these areas throughout Tuesday.

A Winter Weather Advisory continues until midnight for Blanco, Hays, Travis, Bastrop and Lee Counties.  Most of these areas will see some snow accumulation from a half inch to around an inch.

According to KVUE Storm Team meteorologist Meghan Danahey, snow accumulation will be light across the area, with the best accumulation possible in higher elevations of the Hill Country and across the northern sections of Central Texas from Llano to Burnet and Georgetown northward.  Most accumulation amounts will remain on exposed surfaces and grassy areas.

Snow will taper off and end by 10 p.m.

The Texas Department of Transportation is watching the western parts of our area first. Trucks are loaded with de-icing materials that crews lay down on the roadways before the storm hits. Others got a mix of sand and salt that goes down if ice begins to build up on the roadways. The mixture gives drivers more traction on the slippery surfaces.
