AUSTIN – DPS has increased the reward for a Texas Syndicate gang member with a violent criminal history.  

Information leading to the arrest of Ernesto Alonso Garcia, 30, could earn you a $17,500 reward.

The Texas Most Wanted Fugitive is wanted for murder, aggravated assault and drug trafficking.

According to DPS, Garcia is a Mexican citizen who legally resides in the United States as a permanent resident. He is wanted for the 2011 stabbing of two men, one of whom died as a result of his injuries. 

Garcia's last known address was in Edinburg, Texas.

He is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 155 pounds. Garcia has more than 90 aliases, and is known to go by two nicknames – “Rooster” and “Gallito” – and has “Garcia” tattooed on his back.

Anyone with information can provide anonymous tips in one of the following ways:
•    Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
•    Text the letters DPS – followed by your tip – to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.
•    Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.
•    Submit a Facebook tip at facebook.com/texas10mostwanted by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (under the “About” section).

All calls, texts, e-mails and Facebook tip messages are anonymous.

Texas Crime Stoppers, which is funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division, offers cash rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of the Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitives or sex offenders.

Do not attempt to apprehend these fugitives; they are considered armed and dangerous.
