SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- A building at San Jose State University is on lockdown as authorities investigate a report of a gunman.

University spokeswoman Pat Lopes Harris says authorities received the report around 9 a.m. Thursday. She says there are no reports of injuries.

The San Jose Mercury News says a student reported seeing a man dressed in black clothing holding a gun in Sweeney Hall. Students and faculty inside the building have been ordered to shelter in place.

Harris said police were sweeping the building. The rest of campus remains open.

Sweeney Hall houses the school's College of Education. It was cordoned off with yellow police tape.

Additional details, including how many people were inside the building, were not immediately available.
