MADISON, Wisconsin -- Students at the University of Madison in Wisconsin were ordered to shelter in place after reports of gunfire on campus early Wednesday evening.
Shortly after 9 p.m. the warning was lifted. Campus police say they have two suspects in custody for questioning.
According to the UW Housing office there were reports of shots fired on Langdon Street. The department issued the warning via its Twitter account @HousingUW.
The department also warned students to stay indoors, “advising all to shelter in place/stay indoors.”
The tweet described the suspect fleeing the area as a black male, wearing black clothing with a black and white baseball cap.
The latest Tweet said, “Students coming to lakeshore for #ResFest13, stay indoors due to shots fired on Langdon Street.”
