A lot of questions still surround the suspect in Thursday’s Capitol shooting -- who he is, where he's from, why he was at the Capitol.

The accused gunman was identified as Fausto Cardenas, 24.

Cardenas is believed to be from Houston.  He's charged with deadly conduct --- discharging a firearm at individuals.

Video was released of Cardenas being brought into central booking at the Travis County jail shortly after he was arrested at the Capitol.

He was dressed in a white T-shirt, with his hands handcuffed behind his back and covered with a green jacket.

Investigators in Travis County say they had to wait to confirm his identity until they fingerprinted him.

Shortly after the shots were fired and Cardenas was taken into custody, DPS troopers began the search for Cardenas' vehicle.

It is still unclear if a tan Toyota is his car, but investigators used dogs to sniff it and took pictures of the vehicle on the outside.

Public records indicate Cardenas has no previous criminal history.
