Police seek driver after New Braunfels woman killed in hit-and-run

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas -- A New Braunfels woman who died after a hit-and-run incident Wednesday has been identified.

Police say Jessica Rae Hartman, 30, of New Braunfels was hit early Wednesday morning on northbound Interstate 35 near Kohlenberg Road. The driver who hit her did not stop.

Hartman was identified using the FBI’s Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System. Family in Haughton, Louisiana have been notified of her death.

Detectives are still trying to determine why Hartman was walking on I-35 Wednesday morning. The incident shut down the highway just north of New Braunfels, causing traffic to be backed up for a few hours.
