AUSTIN -- Investigators had a new lead Tuesday in the murder of a 23-year-old in downtown Austin last weekend.
Police say Bennie Heslip was with friends at East 11th and Trinity early Sunday, March 31 when another group approached them. A fight turned violent and Heslip was shot.
Police released a sketch of the shooter Tuesday. The suspect is described as a black man, in his early 20s, and about 6 feet tall. He is of a thin build.
Police say the suspect left the scene with three women in this black sedan, similar to a Dodge Avenger.
Detectives think the group may be from Waco.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
