TAYLOR, Texas -- Police arrested a man for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony.
Lone Star Fugitive Task Force members arrested 22-year-old Reyes Torres Tuesday in Elgin, Texas.
Taylor police say Torres fired a shotgun in the area of of S. Robinson and 700 E. Second Street around 8 p.m. Monday, injuring five people who were hit by pellets and fragments fired from a shotgun.
A white, four-door vehicle occupied by an unknown number of people, with one passenger being Torres, fired multiple shots in the direction of the victims. Torres got back into the vehicle and he and the other occupants fled the scene, police said.
One male victim was transported by EMS to Seton Hospital in Round Rock with non life-threatening injuries to his right arm, shoulder and chest area. The other four victims were treated by EMS paramedics at the scene for superficial injuries.
Taylor Police Criminal Investigation Detectives were assisted by Williamson County Sheriff’s Crime Scene personnel, who processed the crime scene and collected evidence.
Patrol officers stopped the suspect vehicle around 9:20 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of N. Main, and took the passenger 18-year-old Israel Galvan, and driver Fernando Torres, 19, into custody. They were charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and outstanding warrants.
The investigation is ongoing.
