DALLAS, Texas -- Governor Rick Perry is getting a first-hand look at the destruction left in the wake of the devastating storms that tore through North Texas on Tuesday.
The governor will also receive a briefing Thursday from emergency management officials on the massive recovery effort.
“Texas has an emergency response team that’s truly second to none. Time and again they have been prepared to move into action the moment danger presented itself, and it’s because of the swift response by local officials following these tornados that no lives were lost.” Gov. Perry said. “We continue to see Texas neighbors helping neighbors and communities coming together in the face of adversity.”
The American Red Cross says nearly 650 structures were affected by Tuesday's tornadoes. Two hundred were destroyed, with another 100 having major damage. So far Oncor has restored power to 39,000 customers.
