AUSTIN – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has granted Governor Rick Perry's request for disaster assistance for victims of the Halloween floods in Caldwell, Hays and Travis counties.

According to a press released from the governor's office, the decision "automatically makes those also affected in the neighboring counties of Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Comal, Fayette, Gonzales, Guadalupe and Williamson eligible for the same federal assistance."

“The tragedy of last month’s storms weigh heavy on the hearts of all of us in Central Texas,” Perry said. “This much needed assistance will help our families and local businesses get back on their feet and on the road to recovery as quickly as possible.”

According to the governor's office, homeowners, renters and businesses in all 11 counties will be eligible to apply for long-term, low-interest SBA disaster loans.

The office further explains, "homeowners can borrow up to $200,000 for residential damages, and renters and homeowners may borrow up to $40,000 to replace or repair personal property was lost as a result of the flood. Businesses of any size and nonprofit organizations can borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace real estate assets, machinery and equipment, business inventory and other business assets damaged by the storm. The loans are offered at low interest rates for terms of up to 30 years."
