NEW BRAUNFELS -- Police in New Braunfels are investigating an accident that landed a pedestrian in the hospital Friday afternoon.
Police were called to the 700 block of S IH-35 NB to investigate an accident involving a vehicle and pedestrian.
Authorities say a 45-year-old woman was hit by a silver 2000 Toyota Avalon while attempting to cross the main lanes of IH-35.
The woman was flown by Airlife to University Hospital in San Antonio with life threatening injuries.
Police say the driver of the Toyota and a passenger in the vehicle were uninjured.
The roadway was shut down for around an hour but has since reopened.
Police do not expect to file charges on the driver. The accident remains under investigation by the New Braunfels Police traffic division.
