ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Round Rock police are investigating a fatal crash that killed a pedestrian Thursday evening.

It happened on N. Mays Street in front of Mom’s Café between Bowman Road and Braddock Street around 11:30 p.m.

RRPD Detective Watson said the pedestrian was leaving a bar with a couple friends and trying to cross the road to get to another bar. Pink spray paint lines on the street now mark where a vehicle hit the pedestrian as they attempted to cross. The crash happened in the middle of the block where there is no crosswalk.

Detective Watson says the driver pulled over and tried to help, but the pedestrian died on the street.

Detectives say alcohol was involved, but they haven't specified who was drinking.

They say the driver was not arrested. No charges have been filed.

The pedestrian who died has been identified. The family has been notified, but police have not released the pedestrian's name.

The investigation continues. Detectives say they have statements from the driver and three witnesses including the two friends who were with the pedestrian at the time of the crash.
