The company hired to set up and run the Texas appliance rebate phone and internet lines had problems in other states.

Hegelson Enterprises, Inc., a Minnesota Company, was paid $875,000 to run the Texas Trade Up program. However, thousands of Texans complained of dropped calls, busy signals and the inability to get through on the web site. Some tried for hours and couldn’t get through. By early evening on Wednesday, even the wait list was filled.

It turns out this same company ran the programs for several other states including Georgia, Iowa, Michigan and Minnesota.

Minnesota and Iowa reported similar problems.

On the day the Minnesota program began, Iowa was also rolling out its program so they both reported the same issues.

According to the Department of Energy’s web site no other state launched its energy efficient appliance rebate today. And in fact the Minnesota and Iowa programs have closed.

If you would like to share your experience, the company has set up a section for comments.
