AUSTIN -- Capital Metro unveiled its new rapid bus transit service, MetroRapid on Sunday Jan. 26.

CapMetro launched Its 801 line Sunday. This new express service runs from as far north as Parmer at the Tech Ridge Park and Ride to as far south as Slaughter Lane. KVUE found quite a few people waiting to try out the new service at the Crestview station on Lamar.

CapMetro also has employees at stops throughout the route to answer questions. Plus they're working to keep the stations clean. Once inside the buses, employees are there to help with tickets.

Express tickets are more expensive than the regular service. One ride is $1.50 instead of a dollar. One rider says it was worth the time he saved. It saved him 15 minutes from Riverside and 1st to Crestview on North Lamar.

There is also free wi-fi on the buses. Plus GPS updates riders to when the next two buses will arrive.

CapMetro also launched a free app. You can find the same real time info, plus buy tickets on your cell phone. Just show the driver your phone.
