WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The National Hanukkah Menorah was lit over the weekend in the nation's capital.
Sunday marked the first day and second night of the Jewish holiday. Thousands of people attended the lighting ceremony.
Jeffrey Zients, a member of the president's cabinet, served as the event's special guest.
Many prominent dignitaries have participated in this annual celebration through the years. The first lighting of the National Hanukkah Menorah took place in 1979.
