A man from Cameron in Milam County is among the 13 people killed in Thursday's attack.

According to the Cameron Herald newspaper, Michael Grant Cahill, 62, worked at Fort Hood as a civilian contractor, and prior to that served as a physician's assistant.

He and his family have lived in Cameron since 1997.

He leaves behind a wife, a grown son and a daughter.

The military Friday afternoon released the names of some of those killed.

Relatives say Private Francheska Velez and Private 1st Class Michael Pearson were among the victims.

Both are 21 years old, and both are from the Chicago area.

Pearson's mother says he joined the military a year ago to travel, see the world and serve his country.

Velez returned from Iraq only a few days ago and was coming home because she was pregnant.

Specialist Jason Dean Hunt, 22, of Frederick, Oklahoma was also among the victims.

He served three and a half years in the Army, and was married just two months ago.

Sgt. Amy Krueger, 29, of Kiel, Wisconsin was also killed Thursday.

Krueger joined the Army after 9/11.  She was scheduled to leave for Afghanistan in December.

Private 1st Class Aaron Nemelka, 19, from West Jordan, Utah, was the youngest of four children who decided to join the Army instead of the typical mission people his age take with the Mormon Church.

Specialist Kham Xiong, 23, from St. Paul, Minnesota, was a husband and father of three kids and had 10 siblings, including a brother who is currently serving in Afghanistan.
