KINGSLAND -- Family and friends gathered at Packsaddle Elementary on Saturday to remember a 19-month-old who died at the hands of his step-father, according to The Llano County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies arrested Michael Grogg Friday. He's charged with serious injury to a child after his son, Paydin Grogg, died from a brain injury.
They say Paydin, or George as they liked to call him, loved to play on the playground at the elementary.
The 19-month-old was flown to Dell Children's Medical Center last Thursday after EMS got a call to a street in Kingsland, the caller said Paydin was losing consciousness.
He died Sunday from a brain injury. Investigators say the injuries were consistent with child abuse.
Grogg's bond is not yet set.
Family members have asked media to respect their privacy at this time and they aren't ready to do any on camera interviews. They tell KVUE they're still trying to grasp everything that's happened. Paydin's mother says she does not believe the charges against her husband.
