A man who caused an accident while driving with a blood-alcohol level nearly twice over the legal limit will be headed to prison. A Williamson County judge sentenced 31-year-old Philip Turner to 43 years in prison for using his vehicle as a deadly weapon.
The incident happened back in August of 2009 on the toll road 45 access road at 620.
Frustrated at the wait on the access road to get onto 620, Turner took off in his truck and hit another vehicle at the intersection. Turner kept going, but a DPS trooper was able to catch up to him a couple of blocks away.
Turner's blood-alcohol was .15. The legal limit in Texas is .08.
Turner has two previous DWI convictions in Travis County in 2003.
He must serve half of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
