An Austin police affidavit details a frightening case of threats and stalking after a woman met a man through a Craigslist personal ad.
According to the affidavit, the man began sending threatening e-mails and text messages, and even called the woman at work, after she told him she didn't want to date him.
After several weeks of threatening emails, he’s accused of telephoning the woman and threatened to burn her house down and rape her teenage daughter.
Police identify the man as John Bateman, 24.
He's not in custody. When he is, he'll be charged with 3rd degree stalking, a felony.
