An Austin man has been charged with killing and gutting a deer in a North Austin greenbelt area.
Justin Martindale, 27, is charged with illegal hunting. An affidavit says he headed out in October, dressed in camouflage clothing, after baiting a deer in the Walnut Creek greenbelt behind his apartment.
The affidavit says Martindale shot a white-tailed buck with a compound bow, then gutted and quartered the animal.
The Walnut Creek greenbelt is city-owned property.
