AUSTIN -- The Longhorn nation is reacting tonight, including Texas students and fans who have spent many seasons rooting for beloved head football coach Mack Brown, who announced that he would step down on Saturday.
Many fans called Brown's resignation bittersweet, but after weeks of speculation, they said they're not all that surprised.
"I'm hoping he'll come up with a good game plan and be able to come out on top, and hopefully we can pull off an upset for a big win," said Texas fan Schafer Smart.
"I think it's really sad to see a legend like that go out, but at the same time he had a great run, a great time, and it's time for a change," said Longhorns fan Preston Key.
"I heard rumors he was going to retire, so it wasn't surprising," Barbara Gass said. "I think the Texas football program will do fine with a new coach."
"I think it's good we're going to get change, maybe a little more energy," said fan Will Wallace. "I think we could use that after the past few seasons."
