AUSTIN -- According to the City of Austin, Mayor Lee Leffingwell and city and county officials are coordinating to request federal aid for victims of Thursday morning's floods.
"I would like to assure residents that we are doing everything possible to secure federal assistance for victims of this week's flood," Leffingwell said in a statement. "Officials have been working around the clock to visit hundreds of homes to assess damage in the area. Working together to make sure we speak in a united voice will be important, not only for Austin residents, but all those affected in Travis County."
The federal aid evaluation process will require city and county officials to submit data to the state, which is then submitted to federal agencies.
