AUSTIN -- Local activist and Del Valle school board member Debbie Russell was arrested for three outstanding warrants early Tuesday morning, police said.
Austin police said that Russell was pulled over for an expired vehicle registration sticker at 12:57 a.m. in the 2400 block fo East Riverside.
After the officer ran a check on Russell, he found that she had three outstanding warrants for an expired registration sticker, an expired inspection sticker and failure to maintain financial responsibility (driving without insurance).
Russell was taken into custody and taken to the Travis County Jail, police said.
Russell has made headlines for social issues such as open government and police misconduct. She was also involved with the Occupy Austin movement and was an avid supporter of one of Austin's icons, the late Leslie Cochran.
