The assistant manager at Oak Hill Liquor Store recently found a dead koi fish. It is the same kind of large, expensive ornamental fish that were stolen from a pond at the botanical gardens at Zilker Park.
"I have been following the news recently, so seeing a Koi fish after following the news I was surprised after all I had heard that that would be in a trash can in Oak Hill here at our store," said Warren Conway of the Oak Hill Liquor Store.
Thirteen koi fish are still missing, including many of the adults which are used to re-populate the pond.
The missing fish are between two and three feet long and weigh as much as 20 pounds. Each is worth about $200 dollars.
Anyone with information about the missing koi is asked to call the Austin Police Department.
