Leander car accident kills one on Thursday

LEANDER, Texas -- One man is dead after a fatal car crash in Leander on Thursday evening.

According to Leander police, it happened around 6:40 p.m. when 76-year-old Eugenio Tai of Leander was traveling north on US 183 in his Chevy pickup. He crossed into southbound traffic, hitting an SUV driven by 41-year-old Kimberly Floyd of Liberty Hill. Another woman, 34-year-old Tressa Pollard of Cedar Park, was unable to avoid the accident and hit Tai's truck.

Tai was pronounced dead at the scene.

Floyd and the four occupants in her SUV were transported to Round Rock Hospital. Floyd is in stable condition.

Pollard was not injured in the crash.

The Leander Police Department is investigating. Witnesses were interviewed at the scene, but others who have information are encouraged to call the police department at 512-528-2800 and ask to speak to Officer Erin Williams.
